ADMISSION POLICY

Admissions to Preparatory Years (PY) Section

For Academic Year 2016/17
Application period for the PY section has closed, and all school places for both PY1 and PY2 have been filled.

However, students who are Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents that are relocating to Hong Kong may still choose to apply if they are willing to be placed on the waiting list until a vacancy becomes available.

For Academic Year 2017/18
Application Period

Majority of our students have been with us since PY1, we advise parents who wish for their children to join SIS (HK) to start at PY1.

Application period for PY section for AY2017/18 will close on 30 September 2016 except for students who are *Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents that are relocating to Hong Kong.

*For students who are Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents that are relocating to Hong Kong, you may still apply after the application period has closed. However, we strongly encourage Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents to submit their application forms to the school before 1 December 2016. Admission of Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents to our PY programme is subject to availability of vacancies after 1 December 2016.

Admissions interview
Admissions interview for PY applicants will be conducted in December 2016.

Only the children are interviewed, and they are expected to go into the interview room without their parents/guardians. Parents are required to select either English or Chinese (Putonghua) as the main language of instruction for the interview. The language not selected will be used as the secondary language for the interview. Most of the interview will be conducted in the main language and a smaller portion will be conducted in the secondary language.

Admissions to Primary Section

For Academic Year 2016/17
Primary section still accepts applications for AY2016/17 although vacancies are limited for the lower primary levels.

Applicants will be required to sit for Admissions Tests conducted by the School in English, Putonghua and Mathematics, as well as Oral assessments in English and Putonghua.

Upon receiving your application forms, the school will contact you and admission tests will be arranged for students applying AY2016/17 as soon as possible.

For Academic Year 2017/18
Applications for Primary 1 to 6 are welcome. The school will contact you upon receiving your application forms.

Applicants will be required to sit for Admissions Tests conducted by the School in English, Putonghua and Mathematics, as well as Oral assessments in English and Putonghua.

Admission tests for AY2017/18 Primary applicants will be conducted in January 2017.

Admissions to Secondary Section

Secondary section still accepts applications for AY2016/17 although vacancies are limited for S1 to S3. We do not admit students to S4 or DP2, nor do we admit students to DP1 after September. For AY2017/18, we welcome applications for S1-3 & DP1 and the school will contact you upon receiving your application forms.

* All students must have approval from the Hong Kong Immigration Department to enter, remain and study in Hong Kong.

* All students admitted to the Preparatory Years Programme must be fully toilet-trained when school starts.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

1. All application forms should be duly completed and returned to the General Office (Attention: Admissions Secretary).

2. Application forms are to be returned together with the following:

  • Admission Report (for primary students only) to be sent by current school directly to SIS(HK).
  • Copies of official transcript of grades/report for the final year from each of the applicant's previous school on his/her performance, conduct and attitude towards learning, if applicable.
  • One recent passport-sized photograph which must be pasted on the space provided in the application form.
  • A non-refundable application fee of HK$3,000. Please submit a crossed cheque payable to "THE SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL FOUNDATION LIMITED" together with the application form.
  • A copy of the applicant's birth certificate and/or other official documents which indicates his/her date of birth and parents' information.
  • Copies of both parents' identity cards and travel documents (passport) which show their citizenship and signatures.
  • A copy of the applicant's proof of citizenship (passport).
  • Four stickers with parent's name and address clearly written on them.

3. Applicants for Preparatory Year 1 or 2 will be interviewed in English or Putonghua. Applicants are requested to state their language preference for the interview.

4. Applicants for the Primary and Secondary sections will be required to sit for Admissions Tests conducted by the School in English, Chinese and Mathematics.

5. Applicants studying in Singapore local schools are required to submit their applications together with their school results for placement purposes. They will not be required to sit for an interview or admissions test, unless decided by the School.

6. Interviews and admissions tests will be conducted in Singapore International School (Hong Kong).

7. Upon notification of acceptance, payments for the following should be sent to the school to secure a place:

  • Personal or Corporate Debenture & Capital Levy
  • Entrance Fee (for personal debenture holders)

8. Applicants need to re-apply if they wish to be considered for admission in another academic year.
